[00:00.04]U.S. President Donald Trump swore in a new chief of staff for the White House on Monday. [00:07.64]Hours later, the communications director resigned after only 11 days on the job. [00:15.24]Trump administration officials said in a statement [00:18.88]that "Anthony Scaramucci will be leaving his role as White House Communications Director." [00:25.60]Scaramucci left just hours after Trump officially welcomed retired General John Kelly as his chief of staff. [00:35.36]The White House statement read, [00:37.84]"Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly [00:43.36]a clean slate and the ability to build his own team." [00:49.04]Scaramucci was named to the position on July 21. [00:54.04]His appointment led to the resignation of press secretary Sean Spicer on the same day. [01:02.00]Scaramucci then accused chief of staff Reince Priebus of leaking information about him. [01:09.56]He also threatened to fire the rest of the White House communications team. [01:16.20]In a late-night telephone call to reporter Ryan Lizza of The New Yorker, [01:21.40]Scaramucci used profane language to talk about Reince Priebus and chief strategist Steve Bannon. [01:29.68]Trump announced that he would appoint John Kelly as his new chief of staff replacing Priebus last Friday. [01:39.04]On Monday, Trump tweeted "No WH [White House] chaos" [01:43.84]before holding a Cabinet meeting with John Kelly at his side. [01:48.80]Seated across from Trump was Attorney General Jeff Sessions who has remained in his position, [01:55.51]although the president has criticized him. [01:59.48]Before campaigning for the presidency, [02:02.28]Trump was the host of "The Apprentice," a reality television show. [02:07.72]He was then known for saying the phrase, "You're fired!" on the program. [02:13.36]As president, one of Trump's first appointments was retired General Michael Flynn. [02:20.25]Trump named Flynn national security adviser in January. [02:25.79]However, Flynn resigned 23 days later [02:30.32]when it became known that he did not reveal his meeting with Russia's ambassador to the U.S. [02:37.76]Trump removed Acting Attorney General Sally Yates on January 30. [02:43.92]She had refused to enforce or defend an executive order. [02:49.60]The order placed a travel ban on people from seven Muslim-majority countries. [02:56.08]Then on May 9, Trump dismissed Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation James Comey. [03:04.24]Comey's firing led to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller [03:09.84]to oversee the investigation of "Russian government efforts [03:14.13]to influence the 2016 election and related matters." [03:19.88]Mike Dubke, the president's first communications director, [03:24.01]resigned later in May, after two months on the job. [03:29.16]Then-press secretary Sean Spicer took over as acting communications director. [03:36.56]However, the position remained open [03:39.64]for another two months before Scaramucci's appointment. [03:44.44]I'm Jonathan Evans.
