495　turn和change

1　turn 用作及物动词，表示“翻转，转动，使变得”。

He is turning the pages of a book. 他在翻一本书。

She turned her head and saw the sun rising. 她转过头去，看见太阳正在升起。

The cold weather has turned the leaves red. 寒冷的天气使树叶变红了。

2　turn 用作不及物动词，表示“转动，拐弯，转身”。

The wheel is turning slowly. 车轮转得慢。

Turn left at the second crossing, and you'll see the bookstore. 在第二个十字路口向左拐，你就会看到书店了。

She turned and walked towards the river. 她转过身，向河边走去。

3　turn 用作连系动词，表示“变得，变成”，后跟形容词或名词。

On hearing the news, she turned pale. 听到这个消息，她脸都变白了。

The weather has turned much colder. 天气变得冷多了。

The leaves are turning yellow. 树叶在变黄。

Her hair has turned grey. 她的头发已花白了。

He has turned writer. 他已当作家了。

4　短语比较：

Turn on the light, please. 请开灯。

Turn up the radio. 把收音机的声音调大一点。

Can you turn the radio down a little? 你能把收音机开小一点吗？

Please turn off the light. 请把灯关掉。

提示

“打开或关闭水龙头”要用turn on the faucet和turn off the faucet，不用switch on或switch off。

5　turn into 表示“变成，译成”。

Water may turn into ice. 水能变成冰。

Please turn this sentence into English. 请把这个句子译成英语。

6　turn to sb./sth. 表示“翻到，转向”。

Please turn to page twenty. 请翻到第20页。

I shall turn to her for advice. 我将征求她的意见。

7　turn 也可用作名词，常用结构为：

It be one's turn (to do sth.) 该轮到

do sth. by turns 轮流做某事

do sth. in turn 逐个地做某事

take a sudden turn to/ on the right/ left 突然向右／左转

It is her turn to clean the blackboard. 该轮到她擦黑板了。

I think it should be your turn to do the cleaning. 我认为该轮到你做扫除了。

Whose turn is it to sing a song? 该轮到谁唱歌了？

We took turns to drive the car. 我们轮着开车。

They drove the car by turns . 他们轮流驾车。

I shall talk with you in turn . 我将一个一个地同你们谈话。

He took a sudden turn to the right. 他突然向右转去。

close也可表示“关”，open也可表示“开”，但指的是关闭、打开门、窗、书、柜等物品，不可用于电器、收音机等。

Open your books at page 10.把书翻到第10页。

She closed the windows at 10. 她10点钟把窗户关上了。

8　turn 表示“改变”时，着重位置、方向、形式等非本质的改变，而change 则是全面的改变。

He turned the house into a shop. 他把房子改成了商店。

The town has changed greatly. 那座小镇发生了巨大变化。

It made her change her mind. 这使她改变了主意。
